no longer talking becomes (only?) talking to whypipo

Eddo-Lodges debut grew from a much talked about blog post to a well-received book (for all those bloggers out there: keep the faith). The post is included in the preface, followed by a short reference to reactions Eddo-Lodge received.

In the next chapters, the author explains precisely what power in relation to racism means and what the structural oppressive mechanisms behind it are. The factual material Eddo-Lodge uses is very valuable and relatable to a Belgian context considering the shared experiences of POC, even though it is situated in a British one.

The radicality of the title contrasts imo with the book. It actually disappears. Eddo-lodge does what she says she won’t do: talking to white people about race. She realizes this herself: “I now spend most of my time talking to white people about race.” While reading, I feel how Eddo-Lodge mainly (solely?) talks to white readers, which at times I find unfortunate.

Overall a solid, theoretical work, easy read that's strongly supported by cases.
